Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI known in personal life as W. E. Jonah was born in Obuasi in the year 1942. He attended Obuasi Anglican School and then proceeded to Ghana National College.
A crisis in his school compelled his parents to send him to the Egbaston E. C School for Boys, England, to continue his education. He shares some of his experience at school; “…. In this boarding school, everything was different. At that time discrimination among people of different races was quite predominant so…. It was a very uncomfortable situation I found myself in.” After he completed O and A levels, His Majesty studied Law at the Metropolitan University London.

Nana obtained his LLB/BA (Hons) Business Law Degree from the Metropolitan University in the year 1976. He served as Company Secretary to Arnold and Sons (Exporters) in London from 1976 to 1977.
Unlike other professionals, he did not  stay in the UK to escape the economic hardships in Ghana at the time. In an interview he said, “I worked with various companies in England but it was nothing
of a permanent nature because I knew I was going back home.”

In 1977 the Government of Ghana employed Ehunabobrim from England to come to Ghana to work as a Legal Officer at the Ministry of Trade.

Congratulatory Messages

A little over twelve years ago, I had the very good fortune to meet His Majesty, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, in his capacity as Chairman of our Ghanaian subsidiary, Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited or PMGL as it is known in Ghana. Since then, we have worked closely together, you as Chairman and me as Chief Executive Officer of PMGL and its parent company Perseus Mining Limited. Over this time, I have come to know you quite well and to thoroughly appreciate and respect your outstanding talents and qualities that align perfectly with our core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Commitment and Achievement. Nana, you embody all of these things and so much more. Nana, you are truly an outstanding citizen of the Republic of Ghana and make a significant and very important contribution at many levels, be it in your role as a Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, leader of the Owirenkyiman Traditional Council and the people of Assin Kushea, a member of the House of Chiefs or as a leader of the Advisory Board that assists the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and much more, including many forms of business, both locally and internationally. Over time, I have also been very fortunate to come to know you at a personal level and have thoroughly enjoyed your friendship, charm and wicked sense of humour. As an Australian, I pay homage to you my friend, Nana Prah as you celebrate your 40th anniversary on the throne and your 80th birthday and grant you the highest honour an Australian citizen can bestow by declaring you ‘a really good bloke”!
